: Following its massive success, a sequel, Shaitaan 2 , has been officially confirmed. Filming is expected to begin in early 2026 . 2. Shaitan (2011) : The Neo-Noir Cult Classic
The film is raw, gritty, and hyper-stylized—infused with dark humor, pulsating electronic scores (by Prashant Pillai and Rajiv Menon), and frenetic editing. Nambiar draws from Quentin Tarantino and Guy Ritchie’s energy while rooting the story in Mumbai’s seedy underbelly. The nonlinear narrative and shocking violence earned it an “A” certificate.
When the was released, critics were polarized. While The Hollywood Reporter praised its "raw kineticism," some mainstream outlets called it "style over substance." The film was not a box office smash. In fact, it barely recovered its budget.
The story follows Kabir (Ajay Devgn) and his family, whose weekend retreat at a farmhouse turns into a nightmare when a mysterious stranger, Vanraj (R. Madhavan), enters their home. Vanraj uses black magic to gain complete mind control over Kabir’s teenage daughter, Janvi (Janki Bodiwala), forcing her to obey his increasingly sinister and self-harming commands.
Proved that high-concept horror, when backed by superstar power and strong emotional stakes, can become a blockbuster in the mainstream market.
Bejoy Nambiar Cast: Rajeev Khandelwal, Kalki Koechlin, Gulshan Devaiah, Neil Bhoopalam, Shiv Panditt, Kirti Kulhari, Pavan Malhotra, Rajat Barmecha Genre: Thriller / Crime / Drama
