Kutty is the second collaboration between director Mithran R. Jawahar and Dhanush after the success of Yaaradi Nee Mohini . The film is a direct remake of the 2004 Telugu film Arya , starring Allu Arjun. The production faced some delays but eventually released as a Pongal treat in 2010.
